Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: The Sensex declined 315 points to close at 79,801, while the Nifty lost 82 points to settle at 24,247, falling below the psychological 24,300 mark. Nifty Bank shed 169 points to end at 55,201 and the Nifty Midcap index fell 71 points to 54,970. The drag was led largely by heavyweight financials, with ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank underperforming and weighing on both the Nifty and the Bank Nifty.
